Responsible gambling
Gambling should be entertainment — never a way to make money. This page exists to help you stay in control, recognise the warning signs, and find help if you need it.
A quick self-check
- Do you gamble with money you need for bills, food or rent?
- Do you bet more to win back what you've lost?
- Do you feel anxious, irritable or restless when not gambling?
- Has gambling caused problems with family, friends or work?
If you answered "yes" to any of these, it may be time to take a break. Help is free, confidential and available 24/7 — see below.
Tools to stay in control
Deposit limits
Set daily, weekly or monthly caps on what you can deposit. Most casinos let you do this in account settings.
Time-outs
Take a short break — 24 hours to 6 weeks — where your account is paused. Useful after a heavy session.
Self-exclusion
Block yourself from a casino for 6 months or more. The operator must honour it and stop all marketing.
Reality checks
Turn on pop-up reminders that show how long you’ve been playing and how much you’ve spent.
Loss limits
Cap how much you can lose in a set period. When you hit it, play stops until the period resets.
Blocking software
Install tools like Gamban or GAMSTOP-style blockers to remove access on every device you own.
